Education Coordinator

CDSPG’s Education Coordinator is a volunteer position. He or she is responsible for coordinating and implementing education workshops and conferences for parents, education professionals, and self-advocates. 

Responsibilities include:

Coordinating Techniques for Success educators conference, in partnership with two other Down syndrome organizations.

  • Maintain partnership with local organizations - Annual Techniques for Success conference with FRIENDS and DSNMC

  • Coordinate advisory/planning committee meetings to identify TFS topics and speakers

  • Prepare and secure contracts for TFS speakers, including self-advocates

  • Apply for Continue Education Units for education professionals (teachers, SLP, OT, etc)

  • Identify and secure conference facility

  • Solicit grants and sponsorship 

  • Recruit exhibitors

  • Promote and market event

  • Solicit donations for giveaways

  • Maintain website for marketing and registration purposes

  • Prepare materials for printer

  • Manage volunteers

Identify and engage in partnership opportunities with local organizations, including

  • April 2020 Terri Couwenhoven presentations with support from  HCPSS 

  • Transition workshop with The Parent Place of MD

Identify seminar topics, determine appropriate audience (self-advocates, parents, professionals) and presentation format (webinar, round tables, lectures, etc)

  • Identify, vet and prepare speakers

  • Identify and book event locations

  • Write seminar descriptions 

  • Promote events

Write articles/blog for CDSPG newsletter/website

Develop original content resources (tips for inclusion, preparing for transition, questions to ask doctors, etc.)

Prepare monthly report to the Board

File financial report after each event

Oversee & develop annual education budget
